Weekend 13/4/2024 10:30 AM Event: (Bus Leaves 10:45 AM (Saturday) – Arrives 11:15AM (30 min)

This weekend we are going to Ballı Kayalar Canyon (Honey Rocks Canyon) to do a hike and swim. This event will be different as this time we are going to ask the people who are coming by cars to be kind enough to take those who have no cars to the start of hiking point if possible and if we have enough people coming with cars, if not we will be meeting at the hiking start point and wait for the others coming by transportation. 

Trekking Distance

Trekking distance will not be more than 10 kms total, the longest we will do inside the canyon will most likely not exceed 2-4 KMs one way at least until we are able to get to the swimming point. 

Difficulty:

This is going to be Easy to Medium level hike! The canyon is rocky so will need a decent shoes that don’t slide on rocks! Make sure you have something that’s good and water resistant. Some of us will walk with their shoes into the water so you can choose to do like us as well.

We will meet near the “Gölbaşı restaurant” in Ballı Kayalar itself near the hiking entrance at around 11:00 AM and wait for others who are coming by bus.

Transportation: (From Gebze take 399 Gebze – Kocaeli Green minibus)

To come to Ballı Kayalar by Transportation:

  1. You will have to come to the latest Marmaray station in Gebze.
  2. Take a blue minibus to “Gebze Merkez AVM” or to this location “1111. Sk. No:9, Sultan Orhan, 41400 Gebze/Kocaeli, Türkei”
  3. Take the green minibus number 399 Green minibus and get in the last station which is Tavşanlı village.

Food and Tea

We will stop for tea/coffee break after we have finished moving to our stop (Swimming spot). Please don’t forget to bring your bottle of water with you, which we will use part of it to boil tea/water for you. and bring food with you as there are no shops around this place.

Required Gear for Hiking:

1- Shoes that would get wet and not slippery on rocks.

2- 1.0 LT Bottle of water (For Tea / coffee) and a Cup. 

3- Swimming clothes and towel to dry up yourself. 

4- Hiking Sticks if possible (Optional). 

Cost: 

This event is organized at no Cost. it’s just to bring the beautiful people together.
